Carolina Conveying, Inc.

Introduction

Carolina Conveying is the manufacturer of numerous valves for the powder and bulk material handling industries. All units are of heavy-duty design and selected by our experienced staff for the application required. From gravity flow to high pressure pneumatic conveying, we have a wide range of valves designed to meet your requirements, serving all industries.

Drop Thru Airlock

Drop Thru AirlockThe drop thru is the standard unit and used in most applications. These units are available in round or square. These units are heavy-duty design with thick castings, thick blade rotors with oversized shafts, outboard regreasable bearings and gland type shaft seals. Numerous rotor options are available such as: open end, closed, fixed blades, adjustable blades, beveled edges, scalloped pockets, reduced volume, quick release, Teflon coated, abrasion resistant tips, flexible rubber tips, etc. Applications vary from bottom of dust collectors to pneumatic conveying. Sizes available: 5", 6", 8", 10", 12", 14", 16", 18", 20", 24", 30" and 36".

Side Entry (Offset) Airlock

Side Entry (Offset) AirlockThe side entry valve is used in applications where product shearing is a problem. The valve name derives from the offset inlet and outlet flanges, where the product enters the side of the rotor instead of the top. On a normal valve, shearing takes place as the rotor rotates into the housing. When these two straight edges meet on a typical drop thru, this provides a pinch area where the product can shear and/or jam. With the side entry, the product is caught on the upswing of the rotor blades so that the product is constantly falling away from the shear point. The rotor pockets also do not fill up as completely, additionally reducing the likelihood of shearing. Lastly, the throat has a 'V' shape which helps push product out of the way. Sizes available: 6", 8", 10", 12", 14", 16" and 20".

Blow Thru Airlock

Blow Thru AirlockThe blow thru valve is used in pneumatic conveying applications only, both positive pressure and vacuum. Instead of a typical outlet, the blow thru includes two ports on the sides of the valve near the bottom. The conveying line pipe connects directly to the valve, with the air stream flowing through the rotor pockets. This design is very efficient, and works well on materials that tend to hang up in the rotor pockets. However, this valve is not recommended on abrasive products as the vanes will quickly wear. This unit is also very helpful in applications that have height limitations. Convey line adapters are provided to suit the application. Sizes available: 8", 10", 12" and 16".

Conveying Diverter Valves

Conveying Diverter ValvesThe pneumatic conveying diverter is used to reroute product from one convey line to another. The body is available in cast iron, cast aluminum or cast stainless steel. An internal flap plate is fabricated of mild steel or stainless steel, with a polyurethane rubber wiper seal. The parabolic shape provides a good seal without any gaps. Operation is either by pneumatic air cylinder, electric linear actuator, manual lever arm or rotary type actuators. The units come standard with spigots as specified by the customer, either OD tube or nominal pipe. Sizes available are: 2", 3", 4", 5", 6" and 8".

Knife Gate Valves

Knife Gate ValvesKnife gates are designed and manufactured as shut off gates for the gravity flow of granular or powder bulk solids from bins and hoppers. All units are heavy duty design, suitable for abrasive applications. Materials of construction are fabricated mild steel or stainless steel. Operation is either by hand crank with screw rod, pneumatic air cylinder, electric actuator or chain wheel. Sizes available are 6", 8", 10", 12" 14", 16", 18", 20" and 24". Special sizes can also be accommodated.
